a childhood memory spun into a sweet & fluffy treat
cotton candy dates back to the 1400s when it was called “spun sugar” made by melting sugar in a pan. in italy it was served as a dessert in string form. the process of making spun sugar was very time consuming and difficult to make. machine-spun cotton candy was invented in 1897 by a dentist william morrison and confectioner john c. wharton and was introduced at the 1904 world's fair as "fairy floss" ... the most popular color? pink of course!
